Prof. Klaus Schuhwerk

Klaus Schuhwerk was born in 1961 in Radolfzell near Lake Constance. He won the German national competition “Jugend musiziert” on several occasions when he was a student. Schuhwerk studied in Trossingen, Basel and Chicago. In 1984, he was selected to participate in the national support programme “Konzerte Junger Künstler”.

Numerous engagements with the Radio Symphony Orchestras of HR and SWR, the Bach Collegium Stuttgart, the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Ensemble 13 and ensemble recherche Freiburg as well as a long-term cooperation with the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra Heilbronn followed.

Klaus Schuhwerk mainly focusses on teaching. He gives numerous master classes, e.g. at the conservatories in Amsterdam, Antwerp, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Saarbrücken, Salzburg and Trossingen.

He is a professor at the Bundesjugendorchester, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the World Youth Orchestra.

He has taught at Mainz university, Karlsruhe University of Music and Munich University of Music.

Since October 2000, he has been professor of trumpet at the Basel School of Music and at the HfMDK in Frankfurt.
