David Bruchez-Lalli is conductor of the Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra. The Swiss trombonist, who grew up in Valais, teaches at the Zurich University of the Arts and has been principal trombonist in the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich for over ten years. David Bruchez-Lalli also appears as conductor at the family concerts that the Tonhalle Orchestra regularly organizes.
His career began in Lausanne, where he received his first professional engagement at the Opéra at the age of 15. After graduating with a soloist’s diploma from the “Conservatoire de Musique” in Lausanne, he went to Berlin, where he played with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the Herbert von Karajan Academy. As a soloist, he has performed with the following orchestras, among others: Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Kammerakademie Potsdam, Sinfonieorchester Basel or the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra.
His repertoire is broad and includes works from the Renaissance to contemporary music. Renaissance works are performed with his own ensemble “Aura Consort” on original instruments.
