Prof. Wolfgang Guggenberger

Wolfgang Guggenberger was born in 1957 in Sonthofen (Allgäu). He was a 1st prize winner at the “Jugend musiziert” competition and won the “European Prize” of the national music competitions for youth. In 1978 he distinguished himself as a prize winner at the renowned “Deutscher Musikwettbewerb” in Bonn.

Numerous scholarships and cultural sponsorship awards frame the career of Wolfgang Guggenberger, who completed his studies at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich with Rolf Quinque and at the Academy of Music in Trossingen with Prof. Horst-Dieter Bolz with distinction. A two-year intensive study program in Chicago with Prof. Vincent Cichowicz, Adolph Herseth and Arnold Jacobs was forward-looking and artistically formative for him.

As a member of the Artist List of the German Music Council, Wolfgang Guggenberger has performed as a soloist with many renowned German cultural orchestras. Since 1986 he has been a lecturer for trumpet and head of the brass/percussion department at the Richard Strauss Conservatory in Munich. Concert tours and master classes have taken him to many European countries as well as to Southeast Asia, America and Mexico.

In addition to numerous radio recordings, Wolfgang Guggenberger has released three CDs with solo and chamber music.
